Biography

Ludwig Donath, a renowned Austrian-born actor, took his first breath on March 6, 1900, in the picturesque city of Vienna, which was then a part of the vast and complex Austro-Hungarian Empire, but is now an independent country known as Austria.

Throughout his illustrious career, Donath made a lasting impact on the world of cinema, leaving behind a legacy of iconic performances in films such as the 1966 thriller "Torn Curtain", the 1946 classic romantic drama "Gilda", and the 1949 musical biopic "Jolson Sings Again".

In his personal life, Donath was twice married, first to the lovely Jean Montrose, and later to the charming Maria Josefa Camsky. Despite his many accomplishments, Donath's life was not without its challenges, and he ultimately succumbed to the inevitable forces of mortality on September 29, 1967, in the bustling metropolis of New York City, New York, USA.
