Lovinder Gill is a multifaceted filmmaker with a diverse range of creative pursuits. He has not only written, produced, and directed numerous feature films and documentaries, but has also made a lasting impact as an educator.
Gill has taught various courses at esteemed institutions, including the University of North Carolina, School of the Arts, School of Filmmaking, where he earned his degree. He has also shared his expertise at East Carolina University, where he received the prestigious "Most Inspirational Professor" Award, and at Drexel University.
Gill's creative endeavors have resulted in the sale of the screenplay for "The Arrangement" to Awaaz Productions in 2002. The film, starring Lisa Ray, Asrani, Kal Penn, and Purva Bedi, was shot in Austin, Texas, later that year.
In 2003, Gill embarked on a new project, writing, producing, and directing the 35mm feature film "Chicks 101." The 94-minute film won the "Best Feature Film" Award at the 2005 Reel Backwoods Film Festival.
Gill has also penned the screenplay for the movie "Lost Stallions: The Journey Home," starring Mickey Rooney, and produced the feature film "Wesley," based on the life of John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist church.
In addition to his work in feature films, Gill has produced and directed a number of documentaries, including profiles of world-renowned glass sculpture artist Jon Kuhn and adventurer Jamie Clarke's summit of Mt. Everest.
