Biography

Lou D'Amato, an American actor, was born to Frances and Louis D'Amato, with an older sibling Karen. His father, of Italian descent, and his mother, with Irish, Scottish, and French ancestry, have shaped his cultural background. Lou's paternal great-grandfather emigrated from Italy to Brooklyn, New York, where he opened a bakery shop and raised a family.

As a bi-coastal actor, Lou splits his time between New York and California, with a home in Studio City, Los Angeles. After years of dabbling in local theater, commercials, and background work while working full-time, Lou made the bold decision to leave the corporate world of finance and pursue his passion for acting on a full-time basis.

With the unwavering support of his wife, Debbie, Lou dedicated himself to honing his craft, training at esteemed studios such as the Aaron Speiser Acting Studio, HB Studios in New York, and The Acting Corps in Los Angeles. He had the privilege of studying under the late Jill Clayburgh at her Master class for Film/TV and continued to coach with her after classes ended.

For several years, Lou has not only been a successful actor but has also worked with his long-time friend Guile Branco at the production company BrightKnightEntertainment. He attributes his success to his wife, Debbie, who was the inspiration behind his move into acting. Lou has come to realize that acting is the toughest and most demanding career he has ever been in, but he loves every minute of it.

In his free time, Lou is an avid sports fan and played several sports in high school and college, including football, baseball, and boxing. He later took up hockey in his mid-30s and played in a round-robin championship in Toronto, winning the equivalent of the Stanley Cup trophy.

Lou is a great admirer of Clint Eastwood, both in front and behind the camera, and credits the 1970s entertainment era for sparking his interest in film and acting. The movie "Dirty Harry" was a turning point for Lou, and he continues to look for scripts that showcase originality, a quality he believes is harder to find in today's industry.
