Biography

Lorli has had a remarkable career spanning over three decades in Philippine theater, television, and films. Her impressive resume includes being awarded Best Supporting Actress at the 1972 Manila Film Festival and numerous nominations at the First International Film Festival in Manila, Philippines. She has also directed the longest-running daily soap opera in Philippine television, Flor de Luna, and has appeared in over 60 films, with at least half a dozen television shows as the lead actress.

Aside from her acting career, Lorli has also ventured into direction, helming TV movies with historical and educational themes for commercial channels and the Department of Education of the Philippines. She went on to establish her own production company, Tri-Media Productions, which was later renamed Emmaus Productions, a renowned public relations, advertising, talent agency, and production company in the Philippines in the 1990s.

As the president and CEO of Tri-Media/Emmaus Productions, Lorli oversaw the production of numerous theater productions, including educational print materials for schools and training programs for beginning theater companies in the Philippines and abroad, specifically in Australia, Japan, and Korea. Her efforts were largely sponsored by the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts.

Lorli's career in the theater began in 1967 as a founding member of the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) under the tutelage of Cecile Guidote Alvarez, who is now the Commissioner of the National Commission for the Culture & the Arts and Executive Director of the International Theater Institute. After completing an Integrated Arts Program with UNESCO, Lorli trained with renowned European and Western directors.

In 1972, she transitioned to television and films, becoming a celebrated and highly respected figure in Philippine show business and the arts. Lorli co-founded the Visual Artists Cooperative of the Philippines with Dean Jose Joya and the Kalinangan ng Lahi Theater Café with fellow artist Joonee Gamboa at the Araneta Center.

Before relocating to the U.S., Lorli served as Chairman of the Board of Judges for the Palanca Literary Awards, considered the most prestigious literary award-giving body in the Philippines, for several years.
