Lloyd Newson, a renowned Australian dancer, was born in 1957 and grew up in the picturesque city of Albury, located in the state of New South Wales.
As a young individual with a strong passion for dance, Newson pursued his academic interests by graduating from the University of Melbourne in 1978 with a degree in social work and psychology. However, his true calling lay in the realm of dance, and he soon joined the Impulse Dance Theatre, where he had the opportunity to tour Australia as both a talented dancer and innovative choreographer.
In 1981, Newson's remarkable talent earned him a prestigious scholarship, which enabled him to relocate to London. Five years later, in 1986, he established his own dance company, DV8 Physical Theatre, a project-based organization that has since become a household name in the international dance community.
Under Newson's artistic direction, DV8 Physical Theatre has toured extensively across the globe, captivating audiences with its unique blend of physical theatre, dance, and performance art.
