LeRoy Prinz embarked on his professional journey after a daring escape from a boarding school, which marked the beginning of a life filled with adventure and excitement. Prior to the outbreak of World War I, he ventured to France, where he earned a living by dancing in nightclubs, honing his skills and building a reputation as a talented performer.
As the war broke out, Prinz traded in his dancing shoes for a pilot's uniform, and his bravery in the skies was legendary. Despite being shot down an astonishing 15 times, he miraculously managed to survive each ordeal, showcasing his unwavering resilience and determination.
Following the war, Prinz's thirst for adventure led him to take on a new challenge: fighting as a mercenary in the Nicaraguan Civil War. However, his luck eventually ran out when US forces intervened, and he was forced to re-evaluate his priorities. Deciding that he had had his fill of combat, Prinz turned to a new passion: dance direction.
He made a name for himself on Broadway, working primarily for Paramount Pictures from 1933 to 1941 and Warner Bros. from 1942 to 1957. Among his most notable and enduring works are the iconic The Big Broadcast of 1938 and the bizarre yet fascinating All-American Co-Ed, which showcased his versatility and creativity as a dance director.
