Leonardo Velez, a multifaceted individual, was born on April 17, 1957, in the vibrant city of New York, New York. From a young age, he developed a passion for martial arts, commencing his training at the tender age of 14. With his mother's Super 8 Camera, he embarked on a creative journey, crafting short martial arts films with his fellow students.
As he grew older, Velez's artistic inclinations led him to Puerto Rico, where he continued to hone his filmmaking skills and focus on dance competitions and theatre. His innate talent and dedication eventually led him to the sun-kissed state of California in 1991.
In 1995, Velez began his tenure as the iconic Beetlejuice character at Universal Studios Hollywood Theme Park, leveraging his bilingual abilities to bring various characters and shows to life. His impressive repertoire included performances in the Waterworld Stunt Show, where he portrayed the enigmatic Deacon, and occasionally, the trusty sidekick, until 2011.
Currently, Velez pursues voice-over work and operates a part-time shop specializing in collectible comic books and magazines. His childhood fascination with comic book heroes and characters has now evolved into a new passion for screenplay writing, as he draws upon his extensive knowledge to craft compelling stories.
