Leonardo Fuica, also known as "Leo Zola", was born in Ponte Vedra, Spain, to Chilean parents, as the third of four children. At the tender age of four, he and his family made the bold decision to relocate to Morocco, specifically Casablanca, for a year before eventually emigrating to Canada and settling in the vibrant city of Montreal.
As a young boy, Leonardo's passion for acting began to flourish, and at the age of ten, he landed his first acting role as a guest star in the popular Canadian television series "Lance et Compte". This marked the beginning of his journey in the entertainment industry, and he went on to guest star in a few TV movies and the mini-series "L'affaire Kafka 10-07".
Leonardo's big break came when he landed regular roles in the TVA dramas "Les 2 frères" and "Tag". Following the conclusion of these series, he has been working non-stop, making his American debut in the film "Home Team" alongside the renowned actor Steven Guttenberg. It was during his work on this film that he developed a keen interest in production.
Leonardo's family is deeply rooted in the film industry, with his siblings all making significant contributions. His brother Demian is a director, while his sister Mayra is a key make-up artist. Alexandra, another sister, works in special effects and animation.
In 2007, Leonardo took the leap and founded Fuica Productions Inc., allowing him to not only act but also produce and write. His big brother, Demian, had already released his film "Last Incarnations", and Leonardo took the lead role. This marked the beginning of his production career, and he has since been involved in various projects.
In 2011, the Fuica brothers came together to create their first joint film, "La Run", which Leonardo wrote, produced, and edited. The film premiered at several international film festivals, including the WFFM in Montreal, Canada, the FFA in Angouleme, France, and the FIFPL in Liege, Belgium. The brothers received three nominations at the JUTRA AWARDS in 2012 for best supporting role, best screenplay, and best editing.
In 2015, Leonardo wrote, produced, and directed his first feature film, "L'ÉNERGIE SOMBRE P=WP", which explores the theme of the paranormal. The film was released in theaters across Canada and Quebec.
