Biography

Lee Friedlander, a native of the east coast, began her career as a theater actor and director before transitioning to the film industry. She moved to Los Angeles and quickly established herself as a talented producer, bringing over a dozen independent films to fruition.

In 2008, Friedlander directed the award-winning short film, "The Ten Rules: A Lesbian Survival Guide," which served as the basis for the television series "Exes & Ohs." The show, a half-hour single-camera comedy about lesbian dating, aired on Logo/MTV/Viacom for two seasons and received several GLAAD Award nominations.

Friedlander has worked extensively in the television long-form world, directing four Lifetime films, including "Babysitters Black Book," "Double Daddy," "A Giftwrapped Christmas," and "Killer Coach." She is a go-to director and writer for The Hallmark Channel, having executive produced "Snow Bride" and "Ice Sculpture Christmas." She co-wrote and directed "All For Love," starring Sara Rue, and "Switched For Christmas," based on her original idea and starring Candace Cameron Bure, who plays twins, and featuring Avril Lavigne's cover of "Baby It's Cold Outside." The latter aired on Thanksgiving weekend in 2017 and reached 7.3 million unduplicated viewers, the largest unduplicated audience for any Hallmark Channel telecast in network history.

Friedlander has also directed Avril Lavigne's music video for "Give You What You Like," in conjunction with "Babysitter's Black Book," and collaborated on Lavigne's most recent music video, "Warrior." She has recently directed two episodes of NBC's hit dramedy "Good Girls," starring Christina Hendricks, and will be directing upcoming episodes of "New Amsterdam" and "The Good Doctor." Additionally, she has been tapped to write and direct two more features for Hallmark.
