Leah N.H. Philpott, a talented Canadian actress, was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, to a notable father, Ed Philpott, a Hockey Hall of Famer, and a mother, Gloria Philpott, a Canada Post worker. Despite her hometown being Gander, Newfoundland, Philpott's family frequently relocated to various parts of Canada due to her father's career as an RCMP officer after his hockey days.
Philpott pursued her passion for theatre and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from York University in Toronto, Ontario. She began her career as a theatre actress, working for several years before transitioning to television.
In 2010, Philpott received an unexpected opportunity when she was hired as a stand-in for the CBC series Kids in the Hall: Death Comes to Town. Her impressive work ethic and personality caught the attention of series star and co-creator Bruce McCulloch, who requested her to audition for additional roles. She successfully landed a supporting role, making her television debut as Big City's Assistant D.A. alongside the show's stars.
Since then, Philpott has continued to work steadily in front of the camera, appearing in various films and short films. Some of her notable roles include supporting parts in A Dark Truth (2012),Great Plains (2016),and numerous award-winning short films such as Morning Zombies (2012),Caputo (2017),Life, Upgraded (2019),and In Sickness & In Health (2019).
In 2019, Philpott was cast as the villainous Lilith in the Lionsgate family-fantasy-adventure film Adventures of Rufus: The Fantastic Pet (2020). The movie was released on May 26, 2020.
Philpott's upcoming projects include appearances in the drama A Thousand Little Cuts (2022) and the mythological horror drama Afterwalker (2021),in which she stars as Rioghain, directed by Dan Glaser.
