Biography

Lawrence Kern was born and raised in the heart of Texas, where he developed a passion for the performing arts from a young age. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre, with a minor in English and a focus on Shakespeare, from Southwestern University. This impressive educational foundation was followed by a move to the North, where he pursued his Master of Fine Arts in Performing Arts at Roosevelt University's prestigious Chicago College of Performing Arts.

Lawrence's early career was marked by his impressive stage work, including performances at the renowned Shakespeare's Globe in London, England, through the esteemed Shakespeare at Winedale program. However, he soon shifted his focus to the camera, making a name for himself in the world of television, film, and video games.

Some of his notable roles include appearances in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, Chicago PD, Betrayal, and a straight-to-video thriller, as well as critically acclaimed short films Girl Parts and Non-Love Song, which have been featured at esteemed festivals such as SXSW and the Chicago International Film Festival. With over 15 years of experience as a motion capture actor, Lawrence has worked on popular video game franchises including Mortal Kombat, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and Call of Duty.

In addition to his acting career, Lawrence is also a talented writer and producer, having created his own web series, Comanche, and pilot, F-Men. He has also dedicated himself to teaching and mentorship, serving as a teaching artist for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 2010.

Lawrence is a proud co-founder of A.B.L.E. (Artists Breaking Limits and Expectations),an organization that provides opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to develop confidence, communication, and social skills through the performing arts. He has written and directed two feature films for A.B.L.E., each featuring a cast of 20 actors with Down syndrome, which have received acclaim at various film festivals around the world.

When he's not working on his many projects, Lawrence can be found at home in Chicago with his wife, Katie, and their beloved pets, Percy and Thisbe, who share a love for all things Shakespearean.
