Laurette Spang, a talented individual, was born in the city of Buffalo, New York, but her formative years were spent in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As the middle child of a father who was a chemist and a mother who was a devoted housewife, she developed a strong sense of family values and a deep appreciation for the importance of education.
Growing up alongside her older brother, Richard, and younger sister, Marilyn, Laurette was encouraged to pursue her passions and interests from a young age. Her parents' influence and support played a significant role in shaping her aspirations and helping her develop a strong work ethic.
Laurette's academic pursuits led her to study dramatic arts in college, where she honed her skills and prepared herself for a career in the performing arts. During her college years, she made a trip to New York, where a chance encounter with a soap opera producer sparked an opportunity for her to audition for a role.
The following summer, Laurette returned to New York and landed a spot at the Williamstown summer theatre, which ultimately led to a scholarship at the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. Her talent and dedication did not go unnoticed, as she was soon spotted by a Universal talent scout, who offered her a contract and paved the way for her to arrive in Hollywood in 1972, marking the beginning of her illustrious career in the entertainment industry.
