Lauren Groh-Wargo is a renowned political strategist, executive, and stalwart advocate for economic justice, playing a pivotal role in shaping the burgeoning Democratic movement in the South. As the campaign manager for Stacey Abrams for Governor, she spearheaded a groundbreaking effort that shattered state fundraising records and historic turnout, ultimately placing the first African American woman on the ballot as a major party gubernatorial candidate in U.S. history.
Following the voting irregularities in Georgia and nationwide, Lauren took the helm as CEO of Fair Fight Action, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to electoral integrity and reform. Her journey began in Brooklyn, New York, where she organized against slumlords, subsequently transitioning to the labor movement and campaign work.
Throughout her sixteen-year career, Lauren has led or advised campaigns, progressive organizations, and leaders in New York, Ohio, Connecticut, Louisiana, Tennessee, Florida, Arizona, Virginia, and Georgia. She has demonstrated a remarkable ability to raise funds door-to-door and counsel high net worth donors, recognizing the importance of grassroots investment and building the infrastructure of funding for progressive values.
Lauren has been instrumental in passing ballot initiatives to raise the minimum wage and has supported emerging political leaders across the South and nationwide in building their organizations and leadership. In 2010, she orchestrated an unprecedented $15 million Ohio campaign effort, and in 2014, she founded the New Georgia Project, serving as its first executive director.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Lauren holds a degree in Economics from American University.
