Laura Misch Owens, a stunning brunette, was born on November 23, 1953, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to an engineer father and a school teacher mother. As the second of three daughters, she was raised with a strong sense of family values.
At the tender age of nineteen, Owens made the bold decision to relocate to Louisiana, where she secured a job as a Bunny at the prestigious Playboy Club in New Orleans. Her stint at the club was marked by a notable achievement, as she was featured as the Playmate of the Month in the February 1975 issue of Playboy magazine.
During her time in New Orleans, Owens met and married a police officer named Eddie, with whom she later divorced. Her acting career also took off, as she appeared in a string of films made on location in New Orleans, including A Shadow in the Streets, Mandingo, Hard Times, French Quarter, and Mardi Gras Massacre. She also landed a role in a Miller Lite beer commercial.
Owens eventually relocated to Miami, Florida, where she worked as a reporter for The Miami Herald. She later moved to Denver, Colorado, and took on a similar role at The Rocky Mountain News. It was during this period that she met and married her second husband, Joe Watt.
In 1997, Owens published her debut novel, Carry Me Back, under her married name, Laura Watt. She went on to write fiction full-time for a while before becoming a regular contributing writer for The Denver Post.
