Biography

Lance Grayden Kinsey, a native of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, a charming suburb of Cleveland, embarked on his educational journey at Hawken School, a prestigious private boys school in Gates Mills, Ohio. His academic pursuits continued at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he majored in drama and graduated with honors.

Following his collegiate days, Kinsey embarked on an apprenticeship at Actors Theatre of Louisville, honing his craft and gaining valuable experience. He then went on to perform with various regional theaters, dinner theaters, and national touring companies, further refining his skills as a thespian.

The Windy City beckoned Kinsey, and he joined the illustrious Second City comedy troupe, where he wrote and starred in numerous consecutive revues. In addition to his performing career, Kinsey taught improv at high schools and colleges, including Columbia College in Illinois and the Goodman Theatre. His talents earned him two Joseph Jefferson award nominations for acting in an ensemble.

Throughout his illustrious career, Kinsey has appeared in a wide range of television, film, and theater productions. However, he is perhaps most recognizable to audiences as Proctor, the fastidious sidekick of Commandant Mauser and Captain Harris in the Police Academy film series. When not in front of the camera, Kinsey dedicates his time to writing and producing for television and film.

Kinsey met his wife, Nancy, during his stint at Second City, where she was pursuing her master's degree in photography from the Chicago Art Institute. The couple has two children, Matt and Logan, and currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
