Biography

Lamar Richardson is a 2x Tony Award-winning producer and award-winning actor. Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, as the son of Antiguan parents, Richardson's upbringing had a profound impact on his career.

He received his B.A. from Columbia University in 2015 and shortly thereafter, Phylicia Rashad discovered him and cast him as 'Sylvester' in her 2016 production of August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom at the Mark Taper Forum.

Richardson has appeared on screen in numerous television shows, including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Blue Bloods, FBI, and New Amsterdam. He will next be seen in Amazon's The Better Sister and Richard Lawson's Black Terror, which is co-produced with Tina Knowles-Lawson.

On Broadway, Richardson made his debut as a Co-Producer of the Fall 2022 revival of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman starring Wendell Pierce, Sharon D. Clarke, and Andre de Shields. His other Broadway producing credits include New York, New York, The Wiz, Gypsy, Othello, and Smash.

Richardson made his film producing debut as a Co-Producer of Bleecker Street's 2024 comedy, The Fabulous Four, starring Bette Midler, Susan Sarandon, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Megan Mullally. In March 2023, he produced and starred in a staged reading of Afrika Brown's The Fight as a part of The Apollo Salon Series.

As the CEO of Ivy Lion Productions, Richardson is dedicated to producing high-quality content that showcases diverse voices and stories. He is also a member of SAG-AFTRA, Actors' Equity Association, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

In 2022, Richardson received the Stephen Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey's Front Row Productions Fellowship at Columbia University, which recognizes outstanding talent and dedication to the arts.
