Martin, a writer and director residing in Australia, has garnered an impressive portfolio with numerous awards and nominations for his feature and short films. With over 4 wins and 21 nominations, his work has been recognized globally. In 2019, he released his debut feature film, "Moon Rock For Monday", which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was later acquired by Wazabi Films and Cinedigm in North America.
The film received widespread acclaim, earning 8 wins and 24 nominations at various festivals, including the Zurich Film Festival, Beijing Film Festival, Busan Film Kids Festival, Adelaide Film Festival, and CinefestOz. Martin's film also earned a nomination at the prestigious AACTA Awards for Best Indie Film in December 2021.
Furthermore, "Moon Rock For Monday" won the Two Top FIPRESCI awards at Schlingel, Germany, as well as the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) Gold State Award and National High Distinction Award for Best Indie Film for Cinematography in 2022.
In addition to his feature film work, Martin has also produced a short horror film directed by critically acclaimed director Alex Proyas, which earned 4 wins and 29 nominations. Martin has directed numerous TVC's, music videos, web series, and pilot TV series, and has worked as a First and Second Assistant Director on several feature films.
He is now attached to direct his second feature film, a psychological thriller/horror titled "The Boy in the Room Below", which he wrote. Martin's comedy screenplay "The Big Murray" was also shortlisted for the prestigious international BlueCat Screenplay festival.
Martin has worked with numerous known actors, including Samara Weaving, Nicholas Hope, David Field, Karina Banno, George Pullar, Rahel Romahn, Bianca Bradey, Shane Withington, Simon Westaway, Aaron Jeffery, and Alan Dukes.
As a member of the Director's Chapter in the Australian Director's Guild, The Australian Writers Guild, and the Australian Film Institute / Australian Academy of Cinema, Television and the Arts, Martin continues to be an active and respected figure in the Australian film industry.
Martin's journey began with studying Law at Sydney University, followed by completing his Bachelor of Commerce at Macquarie University and then his Diploma of Film & Television at TAFE. He later completed an Advanced Diploma at Sydney Film School majoring in Directing.
Martin is currently producing a film with Andrew Mason, Troy Lum, and Academy Award-winning producer Gabrielle Tana, based on the works of prolific writer Patricia Highsmith.
