Biography

Krishna Shah is a notable figure in the film and theater industry, being the first Asian-American writer, director, and producer to achieve critical acclaim both on Broadway and in Hollywood.

Shah has directed and co-authored the play "Sponono" with Alan Paton, and adapted and directed "The King of the Dark Chamber" by Nobel Prize winner Rabindranath Tagore. He has also produced and adapted "Kalidasa's Shakuntala" and directed "Bloodknot" by Athol Fugard.

In Hollywood, Shah has written and directed several feature-length screenplays, including "April Morning" and "Rivals". His film "The River Niger" won several awards, including Best Direction at the Virgin Island International Film Festival and a Golden Globe nomination.

Shah has also written and directed several other films, including "Shalimar", "Cinema Cinema", "American Drive-in", and "Hard Rock Zombies". In recent years, he has been involved in films about India, including "The Journey" and "Hyderabad Blues".

Shah has an impressive track record as an entrepreneur in Hollywood, having served as President and CEO of Double Helix Films and Carnegie Film Group. He has developed and produced several films, including "Kiss Daddy Goodnight", "Warriors", "Cease Fire", and "Matewan".

As President of his own company, MR Inc., Shah has handled many films, including "Rubberface", "Omega Cop", "Karate Cop", and "Dust to Dust". He has also written and/or directed episodes of several television shows, including "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", "Love, American Style", "The Flying Nun", and "The Six Million Dollar Man".

Shah is a member of the Directors branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, USA, and has served as an Assistant Secretary to The Directors Guild of America. He is also a member of The Writers Guild and has served as an alternate Co-Chair of the Asian-American Committee of Directors Guild of America.
