Kodi Smit-McPhee embarked on his acting journey at the tender age of nine, subsequently dropping out of high school in his first year to pursue his passion for acting. He currently resides in Los Angeles, alongside his father Andy McPhee, a fellow actor, and sister Sianoa Smit-McPhee, also an actress.

Smit-McPhee made his feature film debut in 2007's "Romulus, My Father," a critically acclaimed film that earned him the prestigious Young Actor's Award from the Australian Film Institute. His impressive performance in this film marked the beginning of a successful acting career.

In 2009, Smit-McPhee starred alongside Viggo Mortensen in "The Road," a film that received widespread critical acclaim and earned him nominations for the AFI's Best Actor Award and the Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards' Best Young Actor Award.

The following year, Smit-McPhee starred in "Let Me In," a film that earned him a nomination for the Critics' Choice Awards' Best Young Actor Award. This role further cemented his status as a talented young actor.

In 2014, Smit-McPhee starred in "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," a blockbuster film that grossed over $700 million worldwide. This film reunited him with director Matt Reeves, whom he previously worked with on "Let Me In." The film featured an all-star cast, including Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, and Keri Russell.

The same year, Smit-McPhee premiered "Young Ones," a film that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and co-starred Michael Shannon, Nicholas Hoult, and Elle Fanning.

In 2015, Smit-McPhee premiered "Slow West," a film that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and received the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize. This film starred Smit-McPhee alongside Michael Fassbender and Ben Mendelsohn.

In 2016, Smit-McPhee portrayed the role of Nightcrawler in "X-Men: Apocalypse" and will reprise his role in "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" (2019).

In addition to his film work, Smit-McPhee is set to star in the CBS All Access series "Interrogation," a true-crime drama that features non-linear storytelling. He is also set to star in the Netflix film "Dolemite is My Name," which is scheduled for release later this year.
