Kika Child, a multifaceted artist of Spanish and British descent, began her illustrious career as a ballet dancer and stage performer in her hometown of Bogota, Colombia. Her passion for the performing arts led her to further her studies in theater in the City of Light, Paris, where she refined her craft.
In 1989, Kika landed her first leading role on television in the show 'A Escondidas', directed by the acclaimed Clara Maria Ochoa. This breakthrough role marked the beginning of a long and storied career in television and film.
Kika's big break came when she was cast by the renowned Argentinean filmmaker Leonardo Favio as the first wife of the legendary boxer in the film 'Gatica, el Mono', which went on to win the Goya Award and receive an Oscar nomination in 1994, amidst a plethora of other accolades.
Throughout her career, Kika has demonstrated her remarkable versatility, effortlessly transitioning between comedic and dramatic roles under the guidance of esteemed directors such as Pepe Sanchez, Sergio Cabrera, Luis Puenzo, Juan Camilo Pinzon, and others.
In the late 1990s, Kika relocated to New York City, seeking personal and professional growth in the city that never sleeps. Her decision proved to be a fruitful one, as she continued to captivate audiences with her performances in prime-time television series and critically acclaimed films.
More recently, Kika has dazzled audiences as Julia in the GALA Theatre production of 'Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter', based on the novel by Mario Vargas Llosa, under the direction of Jose Zayas. As a founding member of Ramiro Sandoval's company TabulaRasa NYC Theater and Performance Lab, Kika has been a consistent presence in New York's Spanish Repertory Theater, starring in plays such as 'The House of the Spirits' (2009-2011) and 'Doña Flor and her Two Husbands' (2012-2020).
Kika's dedication to her craft extends beyond her performances. She is a board member of The Americas Film Festival NY, TAFFNY, and has been a longtime Master of Ceremony for HFFNY -Havana Film Festival NY. Her impressive body of work includes appearances in films such as "Making the Day" by director Michael Canzoniero, as well as her upcoming TV series, which she is currently writing.
