Biography

Kevin S. Tenney, an independent writer/director, was born in 1955 in Honolulu, Hawaii, to a military family. His upbringing was marked by frequent relocations, with stints in Hawaii, Bermuda, and California. Tenney's creative inclinations were evident from an early age, as he began making 8mm movies in the sixth grade.

He went on to attend the University of Southern California, where he made a significant impact by being the first and only USC film student to direct both a graduate film and a senior project. The latter, a remarkable achievement, won an Emmy Award for Best Student Production of the Year.

Tenney's films are characterized by strong acting, stylish cinematography, and well-crafted characters. His directorial debut, "Witchboard," was a horror cult hit that showcased his potential as both a writer and director. The film's enduring popularity set the stage for a diverse range of subsequent projects.

Tenney's follow-up films included the gory and entertaining "Night of the Demons," the monster-themed "The Cellar," the campy "Witchtrap," and the sci-fi/action film "Peacemaker." He also helmed a pair of above-average sequels, "Witchboard 2: The Devil's Doorway" and "The Second Arrival."
