Kent Harper is a multifaceted American artist, boasting a plethora of award nominations and wins. He hails from Newport Beach, California, and embarked on his film industry journey in 1994. Initially, he worked on various projects, donning multiple hats to broaden his understanding of the craft. As he accumulated experience, he began to assist producers, further honing his expertise.
During this period, Harper devoted six years to studying acting techniques, styles, and methodologies, including Stanislavsky, Strasberg, Uta Hagen, improvisation, and accents/dialects. He applied his newfound knowledge to his work, acting in short films and features, and eventually began writing screenplays to expand his creative repertoire.
In 1995, Harper founded his production company, Film Star Pictures, which has since established relationships with numerous significant studios, producers, and agencies. He has acted in multiple features, 16 short films, and a pilot, written 16 screenplays, and produced numerous short films.
Some of his notable projects include "Kung-fu Cowboys," "Some of an Equation," "You Always Stalk the Ones you love," and "Handicap City." In 2006, he produced the feature film "Statistics," which earned him the "Best Performance" award at the Silver Lake International Film Festival and won the Audience Award and numerous festival nominations.
Kent Harper's subsequent projects include producing "Paper Dolls" and acting in a supporting role, as well as collaborating with acclaimed director David Lynch on the multiple award-winning film "Surveillance." He co-wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Lynch and acted alongside Bill Pullman, Julia Ormond, French Stewart, and Michael Ironside.
The film premiered at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival and won "Best Picture" at the Sitges International Film Festival in Spain, among other accolades. It was released in theaters in the UK and the US.
Currently, Harper is preparing to direct and star in the film "A Blast of Sunlight Explodes," which is based on his personal experiences and explores the intersection of quantum physics and spirituality. He is also set to direct three other projects, including "Karma," "The Descendants of Filth," and "Lost in Utopia," which he will produce and act in as well.
In addition to his film projects, Harper is currently producing 10 more films in development, including the twisted horror film "The Script," "Man Against Man," "Whispers of the Damned," and others.
