Ken was born on June 14, 1971, in Tokyo, Japan, and his early life was marked by a significant turning point when he relocated to Manhattan, New York, at the tender age of 19. He spent four years in the city, immersing himself in the world of music and dance at the renowned Broadway Dance Center, where he honed his skills and developed a fluency in the English language.
As his formative years came to a close, Ken returned to his native Japan in 1994, where he embarked on a remarkable career in television. He created and starred in the popular show "Monomane Battle," a program that showcased his impressive impersonations of celebrities, including Watanabe Machiko and Matsuura Aya, dressed in drag.
After establishing himself as a regular fixture on the 2004 TV show "Ganbai Gekijou" on TV Asahi, Ken went on to create the Maeken Trance Project, a musical endeavor that yielded the group's debut single, "Koi no Buchiage Tengoku," in August 2005. The single enjoyed a remarkable run, lingering in the top 12 of the Oricon music charts for an extended period.
In November of the same year, Ken made headlines by announcing his sexuality in his book, "Maeda Ken no Koi Kyara Shindan." Thankfully, this courageous revelation did not have a detrimental impact on his career, and he continued to thrive in the entertainment industry.
In addition to his music endeavors, Ken also ventured into voice acting, lending his talents to the popular anime series "Digimon Savers" in 2006. The Maeken Trance Project followed up their successful debut with the release of their second single, "Tokyo Charance," later that same year.
