Biography

Kelvin Z. Phillips is a multi-award-winning screenwriter, director, and producer whose films have been showcased at numerous festivals and on prominent platforms such as HBO, Prime, Cinemax, Tubi, and BET. His exceptional creativity has garnered him grants from esteemed organizations, including the Jerome Foundation, Art Matters, Inc., the Brooklyn Arts and Cultural Association, and Apparatus Productions, co-founded by renowned figures Christine Vachon and Todd Haynes.

Kelvin's remarkable screenwriting skills have earned him numerous awards, including the Laurel Productions and the Herbert Beigel Screenwriting Awards. He is also a distinguished alumnus of the Guy Hanks/Marvin Miller Screenwriting Fellowship.

Kelvin's academic background is equally impressive, with a BA in film directing from Howard University, where he was mentored by the renowned Ethiopian filmmaker Haile Gerima. He also earned an MFA in Dramatic Writing from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
