Born to a poet and a former priest, she grew up on a thoroughbred race horse and organic asparagus farm, where she developed a strong foundation in equestrian training, acting, dancing, singing, and language study. As a child, Kate's boundless energy and enthusiasm led her to pursue a variety of interests, including classical ballet, which she trained intensively in and performed throughout high school as a corps member of the Ann Arbor Civic Ballet Company.
