Karl T. Hirsch is a multifaceted professional from Phoenix, Arizona, boasting a diverse range of talents including editing, directing, producing, and screenwriting.
His award-winning debut feature, Green, premiered at numerous international film festivals, including the Victoria Film Festival in British Columbia, Canada, and the Austin Film Festival in Texas. The film was subsequently distributed in North America and Australia by Tribe/First Rites, in association with Hollywood Video (USA) and Rogers Video (Canada),and later released on DVD by Maverick Home Entertainment.
As a director, Karl has helmed the comedy Killer Bud, starring David Faustino, Corin Nemec, and Robert Stack, released by Trimark/Lionsgate, as well as the mockumentary Media Whore, a send-up of vapid "veejays," featuring Ali MacLean, Coolio, Chris Hardwick, and John Doe. He has also directed and edited the award-winning short films Remedy and I Saw a Movie, as well as the horror-thriller Clown, which earned The Method Fest's Excellence in Filmmaking Award and was named one of Film Threat Magazine's Top 10 Short Films of the Year.
From 1999 to 2003, Karl worked as an acquisition executive, trailer editor, and post-production consultant for Los Angeles-based production and distribution company The Asylum, contributing to films such as Detour and Scarecrow. He also served as 1st assistant editor and post-production supervisor on the Stuart Gordon film King of the Ants.
Since 2003, Karl has primarily worked as a picture editor, trailer editor, promo editor, and post-production supervisor, collaborating on numerous independent films, including Officer Down, King of the Ants, For the Love of Money, Club Soda, 88, Hachi: A Dog's Tale, Smother, The Good Night, The TV Set, Soundman, Killer Movie, Chillicothe, The Air I Breathe, Stolen Seas, Big Boys Gone Bananas!, A Princess for Christmas, Reconciliation: Mandela's Miracle, 2ND Take, Blood of Redemption, and Dead Before Dawn 3D.
In addition to his work in film, Karl has produced and directed English dubs of foreign language projects, such as Space Dogs, Kozí príbeh, and Wolfhound. He has also produced and edited corporate video content for clients like The Recording Academy/The Grammys, Octagon Music & Entertainment, United Talent Agency, Universal Music Entertainment, Yahoo!, DirecTV, MasterCard, Siegel + Gale, Xfinity On Demand, Fangoria, and Helio/Virgin Mobile.
