Karin's illustrious television acting career began at the tender age of seven with a starring role in the SABC Christmas production "They Came from Afar". After completing her Bachelor of Arts and Performers Diploma in Speech and Drama at the University of Cape Town, she went on to perform in numerous theaters across South Africa.
Her breakthrough role came when she landed a lead part in the popular soap opera "Isidingo", where she played the iconic character Maggie for an impressive 12 years. Her extensive television credits in South Africa include notable roles in "Zero Tolerance", "Going Up", "Hard Copy", "Justice for All", "Sorted", "7de Laan", "Skeem Saam", "Huis Lelieveld", and "Molly and Wors".
Internationally, Karin has worked on projects such as "The Three Investigators" and "Cape Town", as well as feature films like "The Story of an African Farm" alongside Richard E Grant, which was re-released in the USA as "Bustin' Bonaparte". Her international film credits also include "Les Deux Mondes", "Hoodlum and Son", "Hey Boy", "God is African", and the short films "The Witness" and "Hermit Rose".
Karin's extensive theatrical experience includes numerous musicals, such as "Annie", where she played Lilly and understudied Miss Hannigan, "Cabaret", in which she portrayed Fraulein Kost, and "Sinderella", where she played the Fairy Godmother. Her other notable theatrical roles include the witch in "Bietses en Brousels" and parts in "Boy Meets Boy" and "Scribble, the Musical".
Throughout her career, Karin has received numerous awards and nominations, including a People Magazine's Crystal Award nomination for Best Actress in a Soap Opera in 2008, an Avanti Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Soap Opera in 2003, and a FNB National Vita Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Comedy role. She has also won the FNB Vita Award and the Fleur du Cap award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, as well as the SAFTA (South African Film and Television Award) for Best Actress in a Soap Opera in 2012 for her iconic role as Maggie in "Isidingo".
In addition to her acting career, Karin has also worked as a Casting Director for Endemol South Africa and "Isidingo" for 10 years, casting numerous television series and films, including "Isidingo", "Snitch", "Mzansi", "Zero Tolerance", "Ready Steady Cook", "Murmer", "Swartwater", "Desert Rose", "Poppie Nongena", and "City S'esla". Both "City S'esla" and "Isidingo" have received numerous Golden Horn Awards, and Karin received a Golden Horn award for Best Ensemble Cast for both productions.
