Biography

Karin Dor was born Kätherose Derr in Wiesbaden, Germany, and began her acting career by studying acting and ballet at school. She started out as an extra in films, but it was her striking appearance that caught the eye of Austrian director Harald Reinl, who would later become her first husband in 1954. This led to more significant roles, including her first major feature appearance in Reinl's melodrama "Der schweigende Engel" (1954).
