Kai, a talented individual from Toronto, Canada, embarked on her acting career in New York City, accumulating a diverse range of credits, including films such as "Heat", "Regarding Henry", and the Fox television series "Medicine Ball". One of her standout performances was as Peaches in the romantic comedy "Love, Sex and Eating the Bones", which contributed to the film's ranking among the top ten Canadian films of 2003.
Kai's transition from in front of the camera to behind it led to the creation of her spoken word music video, "The Style of My Soul", which was showcased at the Pan African Film Festival and received a Special Acknowledgement Award for Best Film/Video at the Black International Cinema in Berlin, Germany. Additionally, "The Style..." was featured in the Iced in Black Film Festival, touring cities across Canada.
Kai's exceptional direction was recognized with the Best Director Award at the Reel Black Awards for her first narrative short film, "Maple", which has been showcased in festivals throughout North America, Europe, and the Caribbean.
Kai's second narrative short film, "Lock Her Room", was selected to participate in the Showtime Network's Black Filmmaker Showcase, resulting in its television premiere on the Showtime Network and subsequent appearances in various film festivals.
