Biography

Jürgen Vsych, a renowned filmmaker, began her creative journey at the tender age of five, producing her first film on Super-8 and editing it with her father's toenail clippers. Her impressive filmography has been showcased at 42 film festivals across 29 countries.

One of her notable featurettes, "Pay Your Rent, Beethoven," was shot in Glasgow, won the Prince's Trust Award, and received widespread distribution in Europe, the United States, and Canada, accompanied by the Jane Austen comedy, "Persuasion." Her short film, "$on for Sail," aired on both Britain's Channel Four and America's PBS.

Vsych's literary endeavors include the novel "Captain Death," a historical tale of piracy on the eve of the American Revolution, as well as her autobiography, "The Woman Director," the first-ever autobiography of an American female film director. She has also written "What Was Ralph Nader Thinking?", detailing her experiences as the renowned consumer safety advocate's filmmaker and photographer.

Jürgen's early years were marked by her apprenticeship at esteemed institutions such as the Royal Shakespeare Company, The Old Vic, BBC-Scotland, The Old Globe, and Scottish Opera, under the guidance of the renowned Sir Jonathan Miller.

To finance her early films, Vsych worked as a professional bagpiper, performing at military funerals and busking around the world. Her impressive musical talents extend to the guitar, tenor sax, tuba, cello, and harpsichord, with her films often featuring eclectic original soundtracks.

Vsych has written feature-length screenplays for "Captain Death" and "Pay Your Rent, Beethoven," as well as ten other features, specializing in historical action-adventures. She currently resides on a schooner, sailing the Seven Seas and navigating the Hudson, Mississippi, Potomac, and Delaware rivers.

Her notable short films include "Ralph Nader Crashes The Two Parties," a mock debate using the 2004 presidential debates' own words, "Tyrannosaurus Tex," and "Go to Your Tomb, Young Lady."
