Jovanny Venegas was born in El Paso, Texas, and his life took a dramatic turn at the age of five when his stepfather, a retired U.S. Army officer, relocated the family to various locations around the world, including Louisiana, New York, Puerto Rico, and Giessen, Germany.
In Germany, Jovanny spent six and a half years, attending Giessen American Elementary and Giessen Middle/High School, where he learned English and became fluent by the age of seven or eight. His stepfather, who was active in the U.S. Army, taught Jovanny essential survival skills, including how to respond to terrorist attacks and kidnappings, due to the high threat level against American military personnel and civilians in Germany.
Jovanny's family eventually relocated to Fort Hood, Texas, where he attended and graduated from high school in Killeen, Texas. During his high school years, he discovered his passion for radio and began hosting his own mix-show at KRMY La Caliente Radio, a local Spanish-language station. His show became the #1 rated program at the station for five consecutive years.
After high school, Jovanny worked for Telemundo/NBC mun2 in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Los Angeles, California, where he graduated from Santa Ana College in 2006 and California State University, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism and Film in 2010.
Jovanny has built a successful career in the entertainment industry, hosting and producing various news segments, interviewing A-list celebrities such as John Travolta, Paul Walker, Sandra Bullock, and Sofia Vergara, and winning numerous awards. He has also hosted and reported at numerous high-profile events, including the Cannes Film Festival, MTV VMA's, BET Awards, and Grammy Awards.
In recognition of his community service and philanthropic efforts, Jovanny was honored in 2015 for his work in opening doors for students in media and communications, allowing them to work at A-list red carpet events. He was also recognized for producing the documentary "My Life on Meth," which aimed to raise awareness about crystal meth addiction.
Jovanny is also involved with "The Look At Me Now!" Foundation, a program that focuses on enriching the lives of at-risk students through mentorship, training, encouragement, empowerment, and development in collaboration with RedAlertLive.
