Biography

Joshua Greene's photographic journey began at a young age, with his father, the legendary 20th Century Celebrity and Fashion photographer Milton H. Greene, as his mentor. As a teenager, Joshua started printing for his father in the New York studio, eventually becoming the Studio Manager, focusing on print, editing, and post-production work by the age of thirteen.

Trained in beauty and fashion, Joshua collaborated with Diana Vreeland at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, resulting in the Vanity Fair and Hopsberg catalogs, as well as a book on the Institute's collection, "Fabulous Fashion."

Joshua's passion for photography extended to capturing people, home furnishings, and particularly food. He shot The Fashion collections in New York, London, Paris, and Milan from 1976 to 1986, and published his work in various editorial and service publications, including Vogue, House & Garden, Elle Decor, Victoria, House Beautiful, People In Style, Australian Vogue, Vogue Living, and Vogue Entertaining Guide.

During this period, Joshua produced the first four of Lee Bailey's cookbooks, "Country Weekends", "City Foods", "Country Desserts", and "Good Parties." He also collaborated with food stylist Kevin Crafts on the cookbook "Desperate Measures," which received excellent reviews and did well in the marketplace.

Joshua teamed up with well-known decorator, designer, and editor Mary Emmerling, known as the "Queen of Country," to produce seven books in five years on various titles, including "American Country Gardens", "American Holiday Notebook", "American Country Flag Book", "At Home in the Country Cookbook", "American Country Cottages", "Mary Emmerling Decorating Details", and "Mary Emmerling's New Country Collecting."

In 1993, Joshua and architect DiDi Allen co-authored the paperback "Cars of Cuba," showcasing their shared passion for Latin food, people, and Cuba.

Sheila Chefetz, a consultant for retailers and manufacturers in the fashion business, left New York City to follow her heart and open a boutique-style retail store, Country Dining Room, specializing in antiques for the table. Joshua collaborated with her on two books, "Antiques for the Table" and "Modern Antiques for the Table," which became instant classics in the field of decorative arts.

In the mid-1990s, Joshua founded The Archives, LLC, to protect and restore his father's photographic legacy, provide curating services for the 300,000 images in his collection, and promote Milton's vast body of work worldwide.
