Joshua Bransgrove was born in the rural countryside village of Hullbridge, Essex, to a working-class family comprising his parents, Samantha and Gary Bransgrove. As a young individual, his remarkable talents led him to pursue a career in acting, which he continued to develop well into his late teenage years. During this period, he received a Distinction at South East Essex College and had the opportunity to play the lead in numerous plays, including William Wycherley's classic 'The Country Wife' and Brendan Behan's 'The Hostage'.
As he entered his mid-twenties, Joshua discovered that his true passions lay behind the camera, and he made the decision to travel to Cornwall to study film at the prestigious University of Falmouth. It was during his time at this esteemed institution that Joshua began his career as an Assistant Director, working on a variety of award-winning feature films and shorts. Upon completing his studies, Joshua left university with a First Class Honours degree and his multi-award-winning directorial debut, 'Organs of Business', which was released in 2020.
Following his departure from university, Joshua went on to work as a 1st Assistant Director on numerous feature films, in addition to writing, directing, and producing his own projects alongside his long-time collaborator and producer, Ly-Ann Foster. Joshua's primary focus as a writer/director is to create films that successfully bridge the gap between art house and contemporary cinema, thereby appealing to a wider audience of passive cinema-goers. He deliberately avoids tackling political and hot-button issues in his films, preferring to focus on stories that are relatable and engaging for a broader viewership.
