Biography

Jose Maria's childhood was spent entirely in Mexico City until the age of twelve, when his family relocated to San Diego, California. This significant move marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life. After completing his high school education, Jose Maria made the bold decision to move to Tijuana, Mexico, to pursue a degree in Law. However, his academic journey took an unexpected turn when a personal experience led him to reevaluate his career goals. He made the pivotal decision to swap Laws for acting, and subsequently applied to the most renowned acting academy in Mexico, the Centro de Estudios de Actuación de Televisa (CEA). Following his training, Jose Maria began to make a name for himself in the world of Mexican soap operas. It was in 1998 that he landed his breakout role in La vida en el espejo (1999),a character that would go on to make a lasting impression. The character he portrayed was a polarizing, straight-looking homosexual, a role that showcased his impressive range as an actor. Today, Jose Maria continues to hone his craft, currently working on the upcoming film Sueño (2005),alongside the talented John Leguizamo and Ana Claudia Talancón.
