Joosje Duk was born on October 1, 1994, in The Hague, The Netherlands, a city known for its rich history, cultural landmarks, and vibrant atmosphere. At the tender age of fifteen, she was cast as the lead character Mirjam in the children's television series Snuf the Dog, a popular and highly acclaimed show directed by Steven de Jong. The series, along with its spin-off The Spooky Castle, went on to win a Double Platina Award for surpassing the impressive milestone of over 200,000 DVD sales in The Netherlands.
As Joosje entered her late teens, she made the bold decision to relocate to New York in 2012 to pursue her passion for the performing arts. She enrolled in the prestigious Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University, where she studied Acting, Screenwriting & Journalism. This move marked a significant turning point in her life, allowing her to immerse herself in the fast-paced and competitive world of American entertainment.
In 2015, Joosje took on the role of Johanna Bennemin in the feature film Public Works, directed by the acclaimed Joram Lürsen. This project showcased her versatility as an actress and her ability to adapt to diverse roles. Additionally, she co-wrote and performed a one-woman show called Waiting for What?, which premiered at the Off-Broadway Festival United Solo in New York. This event marked a major milestone for Joosje, as it was the world's largest solo festival, attracting artists and audiences from around the globe.
In the summer of 2015, Joosje made her debut as a writer-director with her short film Heavy Feathers, in which she also starred. This innovative project demonstrated her talent behind the camera, as well as her ability to take on multiple roles within the filmmaking process.
