Jonathan Southard's journey began as a child actor in New York City, where he spent his formative years honing his craft and developing a deep appreciation for the city's vibrant energy, which he fondly remembers as a more "Scorsese-Like NYC".
His academic and theatrical pursuits led him to attend the Dwight School in Manhattan, followed by Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where he excelled and earned honors in both academic and theatrical endeavors.
After two decades of acting, Jonathan transitioned into film production in 1987, eventually becoming a full-time First Assistant Director in 1994. To date, he has amassed an impressive portfolio of over 90 feature films and hundreds of commercials, promos, and other short-form products.
Jonathan's directorial debut, High Expectations, a feature drama set in the world of championship soccer, premiered in the fall of 2020. Next, he will be directing and producing Boundary Lines, a period drama set in the 1980s, which tells the story of a man returning to his small southern hometown after 23 years in prison in search of his long-lost daughter.
Jonathan is celebrating his 12th anniversary with his wife, Wendy Southard, a Prime Time Emmy winner for her work on FEUD: Bette and Joan, and they reside happily in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles.
