Jonathan McHugh is a multifaceted entertainment professional with a wide range of expertise in film and television production, direction, and music supervision. His extensive portfolio includes producing and directing numerous documentaries and feature films, often featuring high-profile talent such as Justin Long, Kim Catrall, Zoe Saldana, Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg, Danny Trejo, Sarah Brightman, Janis Joplin, and Paul Sorvino.
McHugh's most recent projects include directing two films for KEW Media, "Cosplay Universe" and "Long Live Rock...Celebrate the Chaos", which are set to be released in 2020 and are currently screening at film festivals worldwide. He has also produced TV shows for various networks, including CMT, Fuse, and Discovery Channel.
Notable film projects include producing the music documentaries "City of Ali" and "In Search of Sly", as well as music supervising the independent feature "Butter". McHugh has also produced a number of award-winning documentaries, including "Janis: Little Girl Blue", "We Are X", "Image Revolution", and "She Makes Comics".
In his previous roles, McHugh served as Senior Vice President at IDJ/Universal Music, where he co-produced the film "Justin Bieber's Never Say Never", the second-highest grossing documentary of all time, and the Sony Classics documentary "The Greatest Movie Ever Sold". He also spent eight years as Vice President of Visual Media at Jive/BMG, where he helped launch Zomba Films and co-produced the film "Crossroads" and soundtracks for films such as "Wild Thornberry's" and "Jimmy Neutron".
Prior to that, McHugh was Vice President of Soundtracks at New Line Cinema, where he co-produced platinum and gold soundtracks for films like "The Wedding Singer", "Rush Hour", "Austin Powers", "Blade", "Mortal Combat 2", and "Love Jones & Lost In Space".
As a music supervisor, McHugh has worked on over 75 feature films, including the "Saw" film series, "Blindspotting", "Son of Morning", "Hot Bot", "Sundown", and "West of Memphis", which was produced by Peter Jackson and directed by Amy Berg.
McHugh is an active member of the film and music industries, serving as a PGA documentary juror and a board member and founding member of the Guild of Music Supervisors.
