John W. Yost is a multifaceted individual, boasting a dual career as a filmmaker and educator from Upstate New York.
As a producer and director, his work has been showcased at a multitude of esteemed film festivals, including Slamdance, SXSW, BamcinemaFest, Sarasota Film Festival, Maryland Film Festival, Marfa Film Festival, Cucalorus Film Festival, and the Dallas Video Festival, where he garnered the prestigious Best Narrative Short award in 2017.
In recent years, John was one of only fifty talented individuals selected to participate in Black Factory Cinema's 2018 Auteur Workshop, held in Peru and led by the illustrious Werner Herzog.
Aside from his filmmaking endeavors, John has also served as a columnist for Filmmaker Magazine, founded the commercial production company Fifth Column Features, and co-founded a film collective known as The APB.
