Biography

John Robinson made his acting debut in the Palm d'Or winning film Elephant in 2003, directed by the renowned Gus van Sant. This early success led to Stacy Peralta personally selecting John to play himself in the 2005 film Lords Of Dogtown, directed by Catherine Hardwicke.

Throughout his career, John has acted in over 40 films, including Asia Argento's The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things in 2004, Seraphim Falls in 2006, starring opposite Pierce Brosnan and Liam Neeson, Michael Bay's Transformers in 2007, and Wendy and Lucy in 2008, starring opposite Michelle Williams.

John's more recent work includes BIG SUR in 2013, directed by Michael Polish and starring opposite Kate Bosworth, Josh Lucas, Radha Mitchell, and Jeanne Marie Barr, which premiered at Sundance. He also starred in the 2014 pilot for HBO's Looking, opposite Jonathan Groff, directed by Reed Morano. Additionally, he appeared in She's Funny That Way in 2014, written and directed by Peter Bogdanovich, starring opposite Owen Wilson, Jennifer Aniston, and Imogen Poots.

John is also attached to Larry Moss' directorial debut Relative Insanity, starring opposite Helen Hunt, David Duchovny, Maggie Grace, and Joan Chen.

In 2015, John relocated to Europe, where he began working with refugees in Calais, France, as a volunteer. He then went on to direct, co-write, and produce the short film Terre Ferme, an experiment in writing and collaborating with refugee non-actors and filmmakers in France and Germany. John also started a production company in Berlin to regain his passion for storytelling and collaborate with like-minded filmmakers.

Currently, John is producing and in development with five TV shows and three features, and is also adapting the comic book The Red Monkey by Joe Daily with his friend and collaborator, director Sebastien Auger, in which he will star. His latest film, The Amityville Murders in 2018, stars John as Butch DeFeo.
