Biography

John Ridgely was a remarkably talented and multifaceted character actor who had the distinction of appearing in an impressive array of over one hundred films during the 1930s and 1940s, primarily at the esteemed Warner Brothers studio.

Initially, Ridgely started out in smaller, yet still significant, roles in notable films such as Dark Victory, released in 1939, They Died with Their Boots On, a 1941 production, and The Man Who Came to Dinner, another 1941 release.

As his career progressed, Ridgely gradually transitioned into more substantial and memorable roles in iconic classics like Howard Hawks' Air Force, a 1943 film, The Big Sleep, released in 1946, Destination Tokyo, a 1943 production, and Possessed, a 1947 release.

Following the conclusion of his Warner Brothers tenure, Ridgely went on to freelance at other prominent studios and make notable appearances on stage and television until his untimely passing in 1968 at the age of 58.
