Biography

John Bowey, a renowned filmmaker and multimedia director at Transmediavision USA, has dedicated his career to tackling some of the most pressing issues of our time, including conflict resolution, identity, history, sustainability, biodiversity, climate change, consciousness, health and wellness, technology, science, innovation, entrepreneurship, and interfaith dialogue.

Born and raised in the UK, Nigeria, and Zambia, John's diverse upbringing has undoubtedly shaped his unique perspective and approach to storytelling. Throughout his illustrious career, he has designed, directed, and produced a vast array of film, TV, and musical productions in Hollywood, the Middle East, South and West Africa, and the Pacific Northwest, including documentaries, live TV series, and concerts.

In South Africa's post-apartheid democratic transition, John played a significant role in promoting truth, atonement, and reconciliation through his work on the daily series "People of the South." The show featured esteemed guests such as President Nelson Mandela, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and President Thabo Mbeki, and was a testament to John's ability to bring people together and facilitate meaningful conversations.

John has also had the privilege of collaborating with some of the world's most renowned artists, including U2, Peter Gabriel, and Tina Turner, in both the USA and Africa. He has traveled and worked twice with the Dalai Lama and the Tibet House team, and has designed and produced immersive virtual reality experiences for high-end science centers and museums in the Middle East.

In his current role, John focuses on producing and directing documentaries that highlight social and environmental crises, as well as opportunities for resolution. His latest project, "Back to Our Future," is a hopeful and inspiring series on climate restoration that premiered at the UN Climate Summit, COP27 in Egypt in November 2022, and was showcased at Cannes in May 2023, featuring a trailer narrated by Peter Coyote.
