John Conyers is an American politician who has been a prominent figure in the Democratic Party for over five decades. He has served as a U.S. Representative for the state of Michigan from 1965 to 2017, with his congressional district always including a significant portion of western Detroit.
Throughout his long and illustrious career, Conyers has represented various districts, including his final three terms, which encompassed many of Detroit's western suburbs, as well as a large portion of the Downriver area.
