Bunny Breckinridge

John Breckinridge, born on August 6, 1903, into a wealthy family with a notable lineage, being the descendant of former U.S. Vice President John C. Breckinridge. His life took an unexpected turn when he landed the role of the Ruler in the 1957 science fiction film Plan 9 from Outer Space, courtesy of a chance encounter as a house guest of Paul Marco, who was also accommodating David De Mering, the actor who played copilot Danny at the time of filming. Unfortunately, a severe auto accident hindered Breckinridge's aspirations for a sex-change operation in Mexico, which he had long desired. Notably, Plan 9 remains his sole on-screen appearance. Years later, he would be immortalized on film once more, this time as a character portrayed by Bill Murray in the 1994 biographical comedy-drama Ed Wood, directed by Tim Burton. As he entered his later years, Breckinridge resided in New Jersey, bringing a close to his unique and fascinating life story.
