Joe Lujan, a multi-talented filmmaker, initially focused on the horror genre before transitioning to sci-fi and action. His 2014 short film "Rust" was shot on a shoestring budget with friends as the cast and crew, and it received an overwhelming response at film festivals. This led to the creation of a feature film and two sequels, establishing the franchise.
Lujan's subsequent film, "Billy", earned him the award for "Best Director" at ShockFest 2021, while his 2023 film "My Little Nightmare" received the award for "Best Cinematography" at the same festival.
Before his success in the sci-fi and action genres, Lujan had been working on a horror script based on his own fears and high school experiences. He designed the sets, props, and costumes, and created promotional trailers that won awards for "Best Costumes", "Best Trailer", and "Best Horror Feature". The film received widespread media exposure and was adapted into a live-action experience in Las Vegas, which was labeled "Best Horror Escape Room in Nevada". A sequel, "Atelophobia", was released in 2017.
In 2015, Lujan began adapting an online comic book series he created in 2009, which introduced a shared universe of all his feature films. The sci-fi and action film "The Immortal Wars" earned numerous awards, including "Best Sci-Fi Feature" and "Best Visual Effects". The fifth installment, "The Immortal Wars: Netherworld", is set for a worldwide release in late 2026.
Production for the sixth installment is scheduled to begin in late 2025. The story has also been expanded into a comic book and web mini-series called "Immortal Legends", as well as published comic book series "Trikalypse" and "The Vanquishers".
