Joe's early life unfolded in Washington State, where his formative years were marked by a passion for reading and filmmaking, as he spent countless hours behind the lens of an old camcorder, capturing life's moments and crafting his own cinematic masterpieces.
As he entered high school, Joe's innate talent for acting began to emerge, and he soon found himself drawn to the world of drama, landing roles in various school productions. His enthusiasm for the craft only intensified as he transitioned to the University of Southern California, where he pursued a degree in film, immersing himself in the art of storytelling and honing his skills as a performer.
Under the guidance of esteemed instructors, Joe flourished, starring in and creating numerous student films that showcased his versatility and range. Upon graduating in December 2003, he embarked on a professional journey that would take him to new heights.
His breakthrough role arrived in the form of the lead character in Everett Lewis's feature film, FAQs (2005),a performance that marked the beginning of a long and illustrious career. Building upon this momentum, Joe co-wrote, edited, and starred in the critically acclaimed drama Shamelove (2006),a testament to his burgeoning talent as a writer, director, and actor.
Next, he took on the lead role in the thriller The Shadows (2007),which premiered at the esteemed Outfest 2007, solidifying his status as a rising star in the industry. Currently, Joe is putting the finishing touches on his latest project, Sweet Thing, a poignant exploration of lost youth in Seattle, marking his debut as a writer/director.
