Joe Kubert was born on September 18, 1926, in the small town of Jezierzany, which is located within the Tarnopolskie region of Poland, a country that has undergone significant changes over the years, and is now known as Ozeryany, situated in the Ternopil Oblast of Ukraine. This renowned writer, whose creative output had a profound impact on the world of comics, is perhaps best known for his work on the iconic series "Sgt. Rock", as well as his contributions to other notable projects such as "They Spoke Out: American Voices Against the Holocaust" (2010) and "G.I. Joe: Sgt. Savage and His Screaming Eagles: Old Soldiers Never Die" (1994). Throughout his life, Kubert was united in marriage to the lovely Muriel Fogelson, and it is with great sadness that we note his passing on August 12, 2012, in Morristown, New Jersey, USA.
