Dain is a multifaceted professional with extensive experience in the film industry, having worked as an actor, production manager, line producer, producer, executive producer, and film and distribution executive on numerous independent films across various genres.
His initial passion for acting was eventually overshadowed by his fascination with production and finance, which has remained his primary focus. Throughout his career, Dain has been involved with several production companies, including Full Moon Features, where he served as Head of Production, and his own production shingle, Shoot Productions, which produced nine films between 2005 and 2009.
Dain has played a crucial role in the development, production, and financing of several award-winning projects, including the Berlin International Film Festival Official Selection "Gardens Of The Night" and the GLADD Media Award-nominated film "Geography Club", based on the bestselling book.
From 2011 to 2017, Dain served as the Executive in Charge of Production for Sunrise Pictures, overseeing various aspects of several high-profile films, including "The Trials of Cate McCall", "The Whistleblower", and "Always Woodstock". He was also involved in several high-profile development projects, including Doug Liman's feature film "Attica" and a TV development deal with eOne Television.
In 2016, Dain co-founded the indie distribution label Terror Films with fellow Sunrise executive Jim Klock, followed by the launch of sister label Global Digital Releasing in 2017. Between 2016 and 2019, Terror Films quickly became one of the fastest-growing indie horror distribution labels, releasing films in over 50 countries across 20 platforms.
Global Digital Releasing has distributed several critically acclaimed films, including TIFF and BAFTA winners. In addition to his work with Terror Films and Global Digital Releasing, Dain is also the producing partner and husband of writer/director Vincent Sabella, with whom he has produced three award-winning short films and a feature film, "Elizabeth Blue".
Dain continues to focus on building his distribution labels and working with his team to create a "filmmaker-first" distribution model, offering a unique approach in the indie market.
