Biography

Joanne Field, a talented individual with a rich background, was born in St. Louis, Missouri to John L. Field and Eunice Stearns Field, both natives of North Carolina, who relocated to their home state when Joanne was just a baby. She spent her formative years in Marion, North Carolina, where she developed a strong foundation for her future pursuits.

Joanne's academic journey took her to Queens College in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she earned a solid education, followed by her graduation from Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with a double major in English and Music. Her thirst for knowledge led her to pursue graduate courses at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

On June 23, 1962, Joanne tied the knot with Lt. Kenneth O. Pankow, a member of the United States Navy, and together they settled in Asheville, North Carolina. For many years, Joanne dedicated herself to teaching, but eventually, she decided to retire from the profession to pursue a career in acting.

Joanne's acting career took off when she landed a role on the popular TV series "In the Heat of the Night," and she went on to appear in over 60 films, television shows, commercials, and other projects. One of her most notable achievements was her involvement in "Two Soldiers," a short film based on a William Faulkner short story, which won an Academy Award for Best Short Film.

In addition to her impressive acting credentials, Joanne was also a skilled musician. She was an accomplished pianist, pipe organist, and harpist, showcasing her musical talents in various settings.
