Biography

Joanne's early life was marked by a nomadic existence, as her family's military background led to frequent relocations. This trajectory ultimately had a profound impact on her worldview, instilling in her a deep appreciation for the rich cultural tapestry of the world. Her time spent in Germany from 1972 to 1976, in particular, played a pivotal role in shaping her love of culture and travel, a passion that would stay with her throughout her life.

Upon completing her high school education, Joanne enrolled in college, where she pursued a triple major in English, Creative Writing, and French. This academic foundation would serve her well in her future endeavors, both as a writer and an actor.

In the early 1990s, Joanne's interest in acting led her to take classes, which ultimately became a defining passion in her life. Her first foray into the world of acting was in the TV show "Creepy Canada" in 2002, followed by her first speaking role in the TV show "Terminal City" in 2005, alongside the esteemed actor Paul Soles.

Throughout her career, Joanne has accumulated a diverse range of credits, including the TV movie "Pictures of Hollis Woods" in 2007, the film "Notes from the Heart Healer" in 2012, the TV movie "Love in Store" in 2020, and the horror film "Brahms: The Boy II" in 2020.

In addition to her work in film and television, Joanne is also an accomplished theatre and opera performer. One notable example of her stage work is her portrayal of Annie, the Irish housekeeper, in the murder-mystery "Who Dunit" with the St. Luke's Players in Victoria.

Today, Joanne resides in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she continues to write and act, while also exploring the beautiful maritime province and writing about her travels on her blog, the20-minutestroller.blogspot.com. She is also actively promoting her children's book, "George: a Memoir," which has been instrumental in helping people cope with the loss of beloved pets, with partial proceeds from each sale donated to animal rescue organizations. Additionally, Joanne has recently completed her debut novel, "The Enforcer's Tale."
