Joan, a native Floridian, made the bold decision to relocate to New York, where she pursued a career in modeling. Her tenacity and charm ultimately led her to the city of angels, Hollywood, in 1935. Upon her arrival, she was promptly signed to Columbia Pictures, marking the beginning of a fruitful collaboration. During her time at Columbia, Joan showcased her acting prowess in a variety of films, sharing the screen with esteemed leading men such as Ralph Bellamy, Melvyn Douglas, and Lew Ayres. Her impressive performances did not go unnoticed, as she caught the eye of the influential Harry Cohn, the mogul behind Columbia Pictures, who had a rather unconventional proposal in mind - he wanted Joan to be his wife. After her time at Columbia came to a close, Joan made the transition to Warner Brothers, where she appeared in a select few films, including International Squadron (1941) and Nine Lives Are Not Enough (1941),alongside the dashing Ronald Reagan. Although she may not have been the leading lady, Joan's supporting roles demonstrated her remarkable talent. However, her personal life took center stage when she married Harry Cohn in 1941, effectively bringing her acting career to a close.
